Hitting the Apex – Morning Autocross

________________________________
It’s been a while since I’ve been able to make it out to any sort of racing event. But whether it’s on a drift course, a drag strip, or an autocross circuit – that’s where I’ll feel the most at home. I’m not sure if it’s because I got introduced to racing at a young age thanks to my cousin, or the times my dad drove me anywhere in our VW Scirocco like a bat out of hell haha – but cars going fast just always made sense to me. So when I started seeing flyers pop up from our local RGV Porsche Club getting back to hosting these events – I knew I’d have to make it out sooner than later.

After making sure my camera bag had what I needed, it was off to grab some coffee. By the time I got out there, the cars were already posting up times in hopes of making it to the top 3. This time, gunning for a prize gift card voucher from Eurostar Auto Werks. It was great to see a variety of cars and different skill levels of drivers – some of which were enjoying their first time out there. That’s the thing I like about these events, it’s how welcoming they are to newcomers. Any kind of racing can be intimidating, and whether it’s your first time seeing a track out in front of you or you’ve gotten used to the view – it’ll still get you feeling a sort of way. Adrenaline is a crazy thing, but they’ve set up these events to give drivers the ability of being able to ease into it, especially with the help of their driving instructors. With these events being insanely affordable to get your feet wet, and them happening on a monthly basis – I hope more and more people start giving it a try. I’m already looking forward to the next event, this time hoping to get out on track to get a different track perspective and more “personal” with some of the drivers!

As always, shout out to the all those involved who made this event possible!
