HTX Coffee & Cars at Post

It’s always fun getting to plan some trips throughout the Summer. Even more so when your better half just happens to find out there’s a “car thing” happening the same weekend we’d be up in Houston. I wasn’t sure what to expect since she had just found an event page on Facebook – and we all know what that platform is looking like these days. But once I found the official host’s Instagram page, I knew this was going to be something we’d all get to enjoy unless it was insanely humid, heh.

At local events, I tend to keep to myself. I make the rounds’, chat with some people I haven’t seen in a bit, but for the most part I’m subconsciously scouting for the next feature car. But being in a city where I’m not going to set up a shoot, and I won’t be chatting it up for too long at least, this was all about seeing the rides I’m not used to seeing.
It was a great change of pace starting things early, and seeing how it’s Summer – I’m sure everyone appreciates the 8am start. Parking took a bit to navigate, but once there the place was already packed. Cars were still rolling in, but there’s some saying about a bird and a worm – so the cars right up front were incredible. Starting with some Ford GT40’s, GT’s, Porsches, NSX’s, Supra’s, an amazing Grand National- it was such a great mix from classics to exotics. And while it can be tricky to get clear shots of some of these vehicles, I think that’s one of the fun things about this sort of event. There’s kids running around pointing and telling their parents “I want this one!”; there’s teens walking around with some serious photo/video gear capturing some incredible images; there’s older couples admiring the classics and seeing how far vehicles have come; and everything else in between. The cars are great, but seeing how many people decided to spend their Saturday morning walking around to see some cars is what really makes these events.
As always, shout out to the incredible people who made this morning possible!
