Back in the swing of things

Pretty rare occurrence to have two articles go up within a week time-span. While this isn’t going to be a regular thing, I am definitely going to hold myself to get more involved and shoot some events here and there. Going off Thursdays cruise night, I was hoping something would pop up soon, and I got lucky to catch a flyer for this event the morning of – AND it was down the street from me. Sort of like it’s all some sort of sign.

I started my morning checking out the weather and crossing my fingers. The plan was to head out to buy our family Christmas tree. I know, I know, its barely November. But after checking whether it was hoodie weather or not (it was not), I scrolled around Instagram and saw a flyer for an event just down the street. I went and grabbed the gear off my shelf, made sure everything was ready to go, and headed out – but first, coffee.

After leaving Sovereign Coffee here in Edinburg, I found myself driving behind a Ford Falcon, Mercury Cougar, and a 70s Corvette. We just to happened to all be making our way over to Bert Ogden Cadillac for the Weekend Warriors meet. I always feel as if I’m the only early bird, but to my surprise the lot was already looking pretty promising. The classic’s I was following behind made their way through and I caught my friend Jumar making his way to get the front row parking by the entrance. Ed (WeekendWarriors) walked over to make sure no curbs would be checked, and I made sure I checked where spectating would be parking.

I started making my way around, looking around for the usual suspects while I enjoyed the last bit of my drink. A collection of Porsches, BMW’s, Audis, along with a McLaren and Aston Martin set the stage, while two Lamborghinis were posted up at the main entrance. As I started capturing some images in the front area, a Spyker C8 casually drove in and started parking close where I was standing – insane. I walked over where Ed was and talked a bit about this event and some upcoming ones they have in the works. It was great to hear that the Bert Ogden group had given a donation to the Valley Haven Emergency Children’s Shelter out in Harlingen, all tied into this great event.

I made the rounds, ended up talking to the owners of the Falcon and Cougar and got to hear their story about their vehicles. And I love a good story. After an hour it was time to fulfill the weekend duties and head out for some Holiday shopping. Thanks again to those who set up this event, really looking forward to getting out there a lot more – so if you see me around, be sure to say hello!
