Teamshift Honda/Acura Meet

________________________________
Kicking off the year how this all started. When I got into cars, I started with some domestics, but I never really started modding anything much until I got into Hondas. So it’s fitting that the first post of the year kicks off with some photos from a Honda/Acura hang that happened back in December thanks to EddieCRX of TeamShift.

This hang felt like the way things were back in the day, and almost acted like more of a reunion between some of us who have been a part of the local import scene for a good while. It was also a reminder that sometimes all you need is a space to hang and catch up, no trophies, no media passes, just some time to catch up. I got there early thanks to my social anxiety and always needing to be the first person anywhere I go. When I arrived, I saw a familiar EF hatch sporting the “DS” rising sun graphic (Domei Suru) parked way in the back. I’d later learn that the host for the event is related to it’s owner, and while he wasn’t there in person – it set the tone for the evening. Throughout the night some friends I’ve made through all of this rolled in – Tab from RGV4CYL, Eric from RGVShowOff, Roy of CPR Performance Shop, Robby Acosta, just to name a few. It was also nice meeting some new faces and getting to talk to Eddie, the host. We talked a bit about his car projects, opening up shop, and feeling the need to open up his space for local Honda enthusiasts and hopes to keep this going at least once a month.
There was variety of rides that showed up, eventually hoods would lift up to show some of the work that’s been done to a few of them- from simple mods, to fully built AWD turbo setups. But for the first meet like this in a long while, it really took me back to when I first started driving out to 10th & Nolana, parking my car, and walking around seeing my first group of Hondas. It’s great knowing that even after 22 years, the excitement of getting to see what others have done to their cars is still there. I hope Eddie and everyone there that night continue to make events like this happen and revive this scene one meet at a time. I’m already lookin’ forward to the next one!
