The day before the article is scheduled to go up and here I am jamming to some Hans Zimmer (Intersteller OST), a scratch notepad with random jotted down thoughts, and the second monitor full of photos of the feature car. I mean, I can’t break tradition at this point right? Some of my “best” work happens when I procrastinate and stay up late and pay for it in the morning. I dabble in sarcasm if you havent picked this up yet. When catching up with Hector, I realized it can be a little crazy when you’re able to measure how long you’ve known someone by going over the car’s theyve owned over the years. It’s never “Oh man, I’ve known this guy since what…2010?”, but more of a “Oh yeah you had the E46 Sedan, then this other car, then an M3 for a while…”. Car people, am I right?

If you had told me back in 2011 when I was shooting local Honda’s with B series swaps for this little passion project, that I would start featuring the level of cars I have been recently, I probably would have silently walked away because well I am not a very vocal or confrontational person. But one thing I do know is I was (WAS) extremely stubborn and set in my ways. Cars weren’t supposed to be fast from the factory, they were something you made fast. I mean you have to understand I was hanging around with guys that comletely gutted Honda’s, threw a turbocharger off an Eclipse (thank the Lord for 14b’s), and pushed those little engines to the max. But you get older, you find ways to appreciate things that you’d otherwise dismiss because eventually you learn being mad at something at this point, especially cars, is really just a waste.

You’ll be pleased to know that I tried to do homework on the Huracán, but I don’t think I’d tell my 9 year old that homework is something that never ends – even in your mid 30s. That just isn’t a road any of us want to go down just yet. However, I will say that his obsession over Lamborghinis (and white one’s specifically) played a larger role in me taking more notice to them lately. I mean Hector’s 610-4 is far from your usual off the showroom looking Lambo. Do people say Lambo? Is that frowned upon? Is it like BMW owners calling it a “Beemer”?! Anways, even in my writing I will always get sidetracked and I will never delete those last few lines. When you think of white, you often think of subtlety – even with a name like Bianoco Monacrus White. In this case, it acts as a clean canvas that won’t distract you from the sharp lines of the aftermarket aero or all the forged carbon accents. And if that wasn’t enough to pull you in, the set of 20″/21″ Strasse SV10 wheels sporting a lip that King Midas played a roll in designing will command your attention.

But as I mentioned, a 9-year old had me reassess my entire view on “supercars”. I mean I’m sure he likes them because of how extremely aggressive and loud they are – can’t really blame him. For me, “Supercars” went from being something that just looked cool on posters, to being able to understand and appreciate the craftsmanship, technology, and just flat out determination it takes to build something better. I dont think I’m ever going to be able to name more than 2 models of Lamborghinis, or even 1 Ferrari, I mean hell I didn’t even know what model the McLaren I featured a while back was called till I was at the shoot. But I will look at every damn body line on that car and appreciate how light can dance and fall off from one panel to the next. I’ll know that every vent, scoop, and diffuser was actually (and probably painstakingly) developed by people that wouldn’t settle for anything less but perfection. “That’s good enough” doesn’t cut it once you’re desgining cars making north of 600 horsepower screaming close to 9,000rpm. And even with all the technology in the world, a 5.2 liter V10 is still going to scare the living crap out of you if you aren’t ready for it.

I was always around the local automotive scene since my high school days. I’ve been lucky to have met some really great people, gone to some amazing events, and shot some pretty damn awesome cars all because I learned to press a button on a camera. And on a rare occasion someone I’ve known since before all this started ends up modifying or building something that stands out to me and it really starts to make you realize fast time can go by. I feel like it was just yesterday I met this group of guys in a euro car club, one of which is the owner of the vehicle getting featured here, and another who helped me kick start this whole concept for photographing and writing about local rides. In instances like this, I can’t help but be thankful for a lot of the people that I don’t necessarily see or talk to all the time, but have been supportive of this since day one.
